3D/3N

ITINERARY:

DAY MONDAY:
Departure at 7.30 hr from the city of Cusco, arrival around 17:00 hrs. to Pilcopata town (700msnm) to camp on a beautiful beach on the Kosñipata River.

DAY TUESDAY:
We awake on the beach with the sound of the river, after sunrise and breakfast we begin descending by rafting the shiny water of the Kosñipata River. Before arrive at the first port of the Alto Madre de Dios River the Kosñipata River will join the Quero, Tono and Piñi Piñi Rivers, now it becomes wider and more tropical. We make a short visit at the port of Atalaya, then we leave the Andes behind continuing one more hour rafting through the snake shape Madre de Dios River situated at the beginning of the Amazon Basin (around three hours of rafting). This afternoon we arrive at the private “Lupuna” Reserve where there is a good trails system for spotting flora and fauna, as well as basic facilities for camping such as toilets, showers and dining room. This afternoon there will be a hike in the forest that surrounds us, with the possibility of spotting some mammal among many other things, optional nocturnal hike.

DAY WEDNESDAY:
Very early we will be moving downstream with a motorboat, in 20 minutes we arrive at a beach located on front of a cliff (collpa) where hundreds of parrots, parakeets and macaws provide a colorful and noisy show, (this activity can be appreciate only if good weather). At the end of this pleasant activity we go back to take a good breakfast. After breakfast for those who may wish return to the city of Cusco, the boat return to Atalaya’s port, from where in two hours walking reaches the town of Pilcopata and take the local bus that leaves at 7.30 pm to Cusco arriving Saturday in the early morning.
